ABOUT THE EXHIBITION
Essential Connections 2 explores the relationship (or dramatic difference) between us as humans and nature. Such as a sunflower needing sunlight in order to rise and strive, we as people also need the sun in order to thrive. Conversely, the relationship between humans and nature can be quite ominous. Conflict, danger, and chaos are also parts of the natural world. Natural disasters can destroy civilizations; human activity and greenhouse gases are irrevocably warming the earth on which we live.
Essential Connections 2 also references the ecosystem of teaching artists in local and regional arts communities. Co-Curator Heidi Neff is a Professor of Art + Design at Harford Community College. Co-curator Kayla Smith is her former student and currently attends PCAD (Pennsylvania College of Art + Design), where she met several of the exhibiting artists, both faculty and Students at PCAD. Artists also include faculty, staff, and/or alumni from Harford Community College, MICA (Maryland Institute College of Art), and Towson University.
Exhibition Artists include: Caitlyn Bishop, Becky Blosser, Parker Galen, Lindsey Hall, Richard Johnson, Karen Kohles, Rin Kramer, Faith Ku, Michelle La Perriere, Joe Netta, Rachel O’Brien, and Kayla Smith.
