ABOUT THE EXHIBITION
“Art from the Soldier” is a series of ten portraits of veterans who are also practicing artists.
This series of paintings is the foundation of Pamela Wilde’s first curated group exhibition. This show will also feature artwork from the veterans depicted.
The current collection of ten portraits were created during open studio sessions. Pamela hosted these at Gallery 220 in support of the Havre De Grace Arts Collective.
Pamela used a “Creativity Grant” from the Maryland State Arts Council, in order to share her love of portrait painting.
Intending to shine a light on the artistic talents, of those who have served in the United States Armed Forces, Pamela reached out to her local community, to engage veterans that also practiced art, and hired them to model for these sessions.
Pamela is proud to bring together these artistic veterans, and to share their talents in these group exhibitions.
Each veteran will be sharing their unique talents, alongside these portraits. Their talents include the performance arts, two and three-dimensional works (2D/3D). The exhibit will explore how their military service has influenced their art.
Pamela has a life long passion for portraiture. She enjoys using her talents to engage with her community. She currently serves on the board of the Maryland Society of Portrait Painters and is a member of the Portrait Society of America.
