Quite often, when rehearsing a play or musical, there comes a time where actors are called to do some sort of physical altercation to further the story. Whether it’s something as small as a fall or a punch or as large as a full-scale fight, knowing the fundamentals of basic stage combat is essential to providing a realistic audience experience and a safe actor experience. This workshop will go over the basics of creating a safe and productive environment for including stage combat in a theatrical performance and how to teach and perform basic stage combat moves that show up frequently in shows. The workshop is beneficial for actors, directors, and stage managers (all skill levels are welcome). Please come prepared to move.
