ABOUT THE EXHIBITION
“Five Voices in Watercolor” is curated by Frank Spino and includes the works of five central Maryland artists including Joanna Barnum, Janet Belich, Matthew Bird, Kathleen Maling, and Frank Spino. All artists are affiliated with the American Watercolor Society (AWS), an organization whose mission is to foster the appreciation of watercolor media. A top goal of most watercolorists is to be juried into the annual AWS exhibit staged in New York, NY. All five of the artists featured in this show have achieved that goal multiple times.
“We are thrilled to host ‘Five Voices in Watercolor’ as the first externally-curated exhibition at Gallery 220,” states Katie Noe, Executive Director of the sponsoring Havre de Grace Arts Collective. “The artists featured in this show push the boundaries of traditional watercolor in both application and subject matter. Our organization looks forward to collaborating with Mr. Spino and introducing the public to an entirely new way of experiencing this medium.”
Gallery 220 will host “Five Voices in Watercolor” from November 17, 2023 through January 7, 2024. The public is invited to an opening reception on November 17th from 6:00PM to 9:00PM as well as a closing reception on Sunday, January 7th from 4:00PM to 6:00PM.
