CAMP HORROR: The Art of Horror Filmmaking (Grades 8-12)

Learn the art of cinematic storytelling by shooting and editing your very own horror film. This exciting week-long camp combines hands-on training using professional cameras, sound, and editing equipment. Campers will learn the art of scriptwriting, special effects, cinematography, horror make-up, sound, lighting, and editing. This experience will teach them how to operate a camera using manual functions, after effects, and post-production sound techniques. Camp will end with a screening of an original horror film created by the campers.
This camp is recommended for rising 8th graders and above.

Instructor: Jimmyo Burril

Jimmyo is a local writer, actor, musician, and artist known for the films The Central Authority (2021), Chainsaw Sally (2004) and Silver Scream (2003). He was an artist/designer in special promotions for Warner Home Video, and did artwork for Batman, Joe Vs The Volcano, Gremlins 2, and Bugs Bunny’s 50th Birthday. Many of Jimmyo’s iconic murals can be seen throughout the city of Havre de Grace.
