Great Backyard Bird Count Citizen Scientist Event with Bird Habitat Family Class and Walk

February 15 @ 11:00 am - 12:15 pm

Havre de Grace Maritime Museum
$5

Become a citizen scientist by taking part in the global Great Backyard Bird Count at the Environmental Center, and discover the fascinating world of bird habitats with this family-friendly class. From woodlands to wetlands, learn about the vibrant ecosystems that birds call home. The class will conclude with a guided birdwatching hike on the grounds of the Museum and City Promenade. This event will occur rain or shine as we have indoor viewing areas (if there is extreme winter weather class will be canceled with refund). Bring your own binoculars, or we have plenty available to share. The data we collect will be submitted to the global Great Backyard Bird Count’s eBird database, which is produced by The Cornell Lab, Audubon, and Birds Canada.

Pre-registration is required – classes fill up quickly. Though pre-payment is not required, we encourage you to do so to guarantee a spot in the class. The cost is $5 per person. Admission to the Maritime Museum is FREE with the purchase of the class. This event is open to everyone, ages 5 years through adults. Families are encouraged to attend together. Parents must accompany children.
