Evening Walk – Beaver Watch 2026

6:00 pm. Meet at Clark Road.

The HdG Green Team is focusing on beavers this fall. For a first hand experience join the Green Team on September 23 at 6:00 pm for an evening walk with hopes of seeing some of Swan Harbor Farm’s active beaver colony in action. If we don’t get to see the beavers busily maintaining their habitat, we will be able to see the results; at least two large beaver lodges can be seen, along with lots of gnawed tree stumps and beaver trails.
During the walk we will discuss the habitat requirements and the pros and cons of these busy neighbors.
We will meet at the end of Clark Road and use the new trail connection into Swan Harbor. We will be returning to our cars just after sunset so you may want to bring a flashlight to help you navigate the trail through the shadows at dusk. The trails may also be muddy so wear appropriate shoes. Bring your binoculars for best views of beavers and other wildlife we might encounter.
