This first Havre de Grace Colored School was established to provide educational opportunities for students of color who otherwise would not have access to the same level of education. The Keeper’s House Museum at Concord Point Lighthouse
The Concord Point Lighthouse has been a familiar part of Havre de Grace’s skyline since the early 1800s. Its story in Havre de Grace dates back to 1827 when it was built for an estimated $4,500. The lighthouse overlooks the Susquehanna Flats and is only one of three lighthouses left in Maryland from that era. It has acted as a beacon for ships navigating their way upriver ever since its construction, warning sailors of hidden shoals and other potential hazards along the river.
The lighthouse stands 44 feet tall and is constructed out of brick with a stone foundation, making it one of the oldest brick structures in Harford County.
