Main Street Business Spotlight: Get Fit Gym
Are you ready to discover the champion within? If you walk down Market Street in the Havre de Grace Main Street District, you might notice a striking blue wall with a powerful message painted in white: “CHAMPIONS SERVING CHAMPIONS.” Since 2012, Get Fit Gym has instilled this exact mantra and their core values of being coachable, selfless, humility, fearless, possessing mental toughness, and being finishers into the local community.
Head Coach Jeff Brochu shares that they started Get Fit because they had a “love for fitness, love for people, and wanted to bring them together.” For Coach Brochu and his team, Get Fit is about taking on a challenge, making progress, and building great teammates. They believe it takes all three components to bring true enthusiasm and energy to the world. Their ultimate vision is a world on fire where people come to give their best. The moment you walk through their doors, they are on a mission to deliver a hope-filled experience ensuring that when you leave, you truly believe a champion exists within you.

Intensive Summer Camps & Academies
With summer in full swing, Get Fit Gym focuses heavily on the town’s youth with a variety of camps geared toward developing confidence, discipline, and athletic excellence.
Youth Wrestling Academy
Serving kids ages 8 to 18, Get Fit’s Wrestling Academy meets athletes exactly where they are—whether they have never touched a mat before or are seasoned competitors chasing state and national titles. They aren’t just running a camp; they are actively building wrestlers.
Led by Coach Tom Free, the 6-week, 5-day-a-week summer program goes far beyond physical technique. Coach Free’s goal is to use the sport to develop confidence and discipline, helping young athletes grow deeply in both their minds and their hearts. The year-round commitment to this philosophy has yielded incredible historical results. While Havre de Grace High School historically sent only one, two, or sometimes zero wrestlers to states, this past year, nine year-round wrestlers from Get Fit qualified for the state tournament—resulting in multiple match victories and two state placers.

Sports Performance Camp
Designed for kids of all athletic backgrounds and abilities, this camp helps young athletes build transferable speed and strength, alongside agility, coordination, and body control. Like the wrestling academy, it uses physical training to instill a sense of confidence and discipline that extends well beyond sports.
Coach Free noted that while working with the youth in Havre de Grace, the coaches discovered an exponential amount of untapped potential in the community and its young citizens. This realization made it their ultimate goal to work alongside these kids to develop them into both great athletes and great people.
Adult Programs: Bootcamp, Boxing, & Mobility

- Inspired Boxing Program: Guided and inspired by professional MMA fighter Shelton “The Grave Digger” Graves, the boxing program is designed to build sharp self-defense skills and massive physical conditioning, welcoming everyone regardless of prior experience.
- Assisted Stretch Program: Working in tandem with their personal training, this program targets desk workers, hobbyists, or anyone experiencing daily aches and stiffness, helping them move more freely and feel better.

Empowering Generations: From Youth to Seniors
Driven by the foundational belief that there is no age at which you are meant to sit down or stand up, Get Fit Gym focuses on strength and vitality for all stages of life.
For the older population in Havre de Grace, the gym offers a dedicated Senior Program and assisted stretching experience. This specialized training focuses on ensuring seniors can continue to live life on their own terms and enjoy the hobbies they love, such as gardening. Coach Tom Free notes the life-changing transformations he witnesses:
“You have people coming in here that thought life was over in many ways, and they are rediscovering a youth and a mobility that is just mind-blowing… [They are] getting back into those spaces that make life worth living.”
A Deep Connection to Havre de Grace
The Get Fit team’s enthusiasm for fitness is matched only by their deep appreciation for the town they call home. From bird-watching for blue herons on the water to catching sunrises and sunsets along the promenade, they find constant inspiration in the local environment.
The coaches are particularly energized by the town’s vibrant, year-round calendar of events. “There’s always festivals almost every day of every weekend,” they highlight. “From March all the way through December, it feels like festivals are just coming out of the sky!” Beyond the non-stop weekend energy, they love the beautiful new streetscape recently completed on N. Washington Street, as well as being located right next to local cultural landmarks like Harmer’s Town Art Center. For the team at Get Fit, these unique features make the neighborhood the perfect backdrop for inspiring local residents to achieve their best.
Whether you are looking to improve your athletic performance, boost your everyday energy, or rediscover your physical freedom, Get Fit Gym has a guide ready to walk you through your journey. As the team says, “If you’re looking to become a better version of who you are right now… we would love to invite you to Get Fit this summer”!
