You’ve seen the murals and walked by all year during its construction, but now Graw Alley, the interactive art park component of Harmer’s Town Art Center, will officially open to the public in downtown Havre de Grace.
All are welcome to the ribbon-cutting ceremony and public art unveiling at 4:30 pm on Friday, October 20 – culminating with an invitation to finally enter and enjoy the park. At the same time, we will open the doors to our future art center for visitors to peruse the Alley Art Youth Art Challenge installation – a gallery of artwork created by hundreds of local Havre de Grace students from materials donated by local businesses, sponsored by the Maryland State Arts Council (msac.org) and supported by the Morris A. Mechanic Foundation.
The festivities will continue on Saturday, October 21 from 1:30-7:00 pm, when the public is invited to a Graw Alley block party with live music and entertainers, art demonstrations, food vendors, and other surprises.
Come celebrate with your community the much-anticipated opening of Graw Alley art park, unveiling of a new public art sculpture and youth art gallery, and help us recognize the recent expansion of the city’s Main Street District.
Notice: The block of Market Street from Bourbon Street to Congress Avenue will be closed to traffic from 2-9 pm on Friday and from 1-8 pm on Saturday. Restrooms will be provided and are also available at the adjacent Hutchins Park and Market Street Brewery.
